Full Job Description

Kent County Council Streetworks are looking to recruit a Senior Streetworks Inspector to join our West Kent area teams. Streetworks is a busy environment responsible for the coordination of road and street works across the county, from minor activities such as pothole repairs and water meter replacements up to large scale schemes. Inspectors play their role by monitoring activities for compliance with the site safety code of practice and ensure that those reinstatements meet the required quality standard. There are also a range of Street Works licences provided by KCC that are administered by the team which the inspectors are engaged in monitoring. We liaise with public, parishes, and councillors directly and through the enquiry system so good communication and a level headed approach is key for this role.

Our inspectors are the eyes and ears of the team, and we are looking to recruit Senior Streetworks Inspectors to provide supervision and support so they can perform their duties in a consistent manner across the area and county. The successful candidate will be looking after 5 inspectors for the area, providing cover when needed and acting as the first escalation point for any issues. Building up good working relationships both within KCC Highway Operations and with the broad Statutory Undertaker community operating on the Kent Network.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the Streetworks industry and of staff supervision.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Work that works for you and us - let's talk flexibility!

KCC is committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the county's working residents, encouraging applications from people of all ages, abilities, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds, faiths and those with caring responsibilities, and aspires to create an inclusive workplace where everyone can be themselves at work.

Please note - if you are interested, please apply as soon as possible as the closing date for this advert may be earlier than stated should a number of suitably qualified candidates apply.
