Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Support Worker, with the commitment and positive attitude to work alongside a Project Manager to support and supervise a dedicated staff team and deliver high quality support to adults in supported living settings in the Willington area. You will provide personalised, practical, emotional and social support to adults with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs enabling them to lead the lives they want to live. You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework, to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner. You must be able to follow agreed guidelines and to work positively within a consistent, mutually supportive team ethos. You will be well organised and able to deploy staff reliably and effectively to meet the needs and preferences of the people we support. You must be willing to actively embrace all aspects of the role including support with personal care and domestic tasks as well as community activities such as walking, accessing local disco, visiting museums, and places of interest. The ability to support people who can express their needs though challenging behaviour at times is essential. Prior experience in this field of work is beneficial, although not a substitute for an engaging, creative and person centred approach. We will value the personal skills and interests you bring to the role and to the lives of the service users. Your role will include:

  • Encouraging service users to engage in a range of exciting social activities both within and outside their homes,
  • Developing warm and trusting relationships with service users and their families enabling them to enjoy their time at the service to the fullest
  • Full time hours and part time hours available and a willingness to work sleep in's, shift patterns cover early, mid and late shifts.
