Full Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Senior Sustainable Travel Office at 30 hours per week to facilitate the delivery of both local and national strategies and targets, working with a range of internal and external partners to develop and deliver a range of promotional schemes and projects across the county under the Choose How You Move brand. As well as delivering projects the role will require the organisation and running of various events such as Leicestershire's Cycling, Walking and Wheeling Forum, supporting the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure (LCWIPs) development programme and managing the Choose How You Move Active and Sustainable Grants scheme. Duties will also include guiding developers to mitigate the impact of single car occupancy use for new developments pre and post planning stage. You will also be ensuring that developers are meeting the required standards set out in relevant guidance relating to Travel Plans and support the delivery and monitoring of active and sustainable initiatives which have been condition through Section 106 Obligations., We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious individual who has an interest in Active and Sustainable Travel to work within a large and multi-faceted team to drive forward the council's sustainable travel agenda, which includes the vision for Leicestershire to become a county where walking and cycling are safe, accessible and obvious choices for short journeys, and a natural part of longer journeys, helping to deliver healthier, greener communities.,
- Qualifications: Degree or equivalent relevant qualification or proven relevant experience in the areas below.
- Good knowledge and understanding of active and sustainable travel and transport, together with a customer-focused approach where the customer experience is central to the delivery of the service.
- Experience of developing and influencing successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, such as schools, businesses, transport operators and communities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills including communicating at all levels and to a wide range of audiences effectively with understanding, tact, and diplomacy, whilst maintaining an objective, assertive and professional stance.
- Effective time, resource and project management skills, to be able to work in a team environment, to manage varied workloads and an ability to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets.
- Excellent ICT skills, including a knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office programmes particularly within Microsoft Excel and use of bespoke databases and map-based programmes. You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
