Full Job Description

35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required. We are happy to consider agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office, please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further., Reporting to the Head of Tax, this is a high profile role within the organisation. The Senior Tax Manager be responsible for:

  • the efficient and timely completion of the firm's tax compliance obligations internationally including income and corporation tax computations and returns, tax balances in statutory accounts, double tax relief claims, VAT, withholding taxes, global mobility and tax payments, including liaising with third party advisers and local finance managers to ensure all aspects of tax compliance in Continental Europe and Ireland are achieved on a timely basis
  • Oversee a small team to deliver timely and efficient tax compliance
  • Manage and mentor the Tax Manager
  • The Senior Tax Manager will work with senior tax and finance leadership to monitor and review the firm's tax risk and governance, in line the firm's tax policy, and take steps to ensure adherence to this policy across the firm, including developing assurance checks to monitor adherence, updating policies and procedures and rolling out such policies across the firm The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Tax department's technology roadmap, including liaising with third-party advisers, other teams within the firm and identifying opportunities for quick wins. The Senior Tax Manager will also:
  • work with the Head of Global Mobility to assess the tax risks for the firm (permanent establishment, local payroll reporting, etc.) in relation to remote working and globally mobile employees, including liaising with third-party advisers as necessary
  • Be responsible for the continuing improvement of VAT processes, documentation and compliance across the firm
  • Engage in tax projects in line with the firm's strategic goals
  • Review all communications with tax authorities in relation to ongoing tax issues, questions, and audits/examinations
  • Assess the impact of new tax legislation in relevant jurisdictions and putting in place measures to manage the impact.
  • Review the timely update and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation for the Firm on an annual basis, including the Country by Country Reporting Annual Report and the Firm's organisational structure as needed for transfer pricing purposes
  • Review the firm's structure for BEPS Pillar 2 purposes, including reviewing the documentation and compliance supporting our Pillar 2 positions

    The Candidate
  • Strong tax technical skills particularly in relation to the issues faced by multinational law firms
  • Analytical ability - dealing with complex tax problems and large amounts of data
  • Team management - experience managing a team including developing/mentoring key team members, delegation, reviewing work of other members of the team and ensuring team deadlines are met.
  • Communication skills - explaining technical issues clearly, both orally and in writing, to colleagues in finance, senior management, partners and external advisers
  • Organisational ability - prioritising tasks to meet internal and statutory deadlines
  • Attention to detail - ensuring work is prepared to a high standard
  • Initiative - anticipating issues and identifying improvements to processes and procedures
  • Tact and diplomacy - dealing appropriately with sensitive personal data relating to Partners.
  • Skills & Experience
  • The candidate should demonstrate experience working in an international tax environment
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office - in particular Excel - is essential
  • Having strong technology skills are important as we seek to improve the efficiencies of the Tax Department through implementation of technology with the guidance of external advisors, The candidate should have accounting or tax qualification. Experience of partnership tax, international tax and VAT would be useful, but none of these is a prerequisite.
