Full Job Description
We are looking for an engineering leader to join our global engineering team as a Senior Technical Lead. Based in Europe, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership to our global engineering team. You will be the technical authority who drives architectural decisions and ensures that our engineering practices align with best-in-class standards. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in leading through influence, has a strong technical foundation, and can balance hands-on technical decision-making with the communication skills to guide a diverse team of engineers. People who have had both technical leadership and engineering management roles in their past are best suited for this role, as they know how to drive the technical direction, but also know how to motivate the team members to excel. What you'll be doing
- Technical Leadership: + Drive architectural decisions and ensure coherence across projects, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable. + Act as a tie-breaker in technical disagreements, providing balanced, informed judgments that align with the company's strategic objectives. + Collaborate closely with the VP of Engineering and global engineering teams to create and implement technical roadmaps. + Champion engineering excellence, establishing best practices, design principles, and coding standards across teams.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: + Act as a bridge between US and Europe-based teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across time zones. + Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and other engineering leaders to translate business needs into technical requirements and drive delivery. + Ensure seamless hand-offs between geographically dispersed teams and contribute to improving processes for distributed development.
- Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, such as Chief Architect, or Principal Engineer.
- Strong understanding of architecture design, systems design, and large-scale application development.
- Ability to make high-stakes technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and drive consensus across teams.
- Experience managing and leading engineers.
- Comfortable working across multiple time zones and facilitating collaboration between global teams. Bonus points if you have
- Previous experience in leading distributed teams across multiple geographies.
- Prior experience developing distributed databases, big data platforms, or large scale real-time analytic systems.
- Hands-on experience in Rust development and proficiency in systems programming.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration, deployment, and scaling.
- Familiarity with cloud-based architectures, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar), and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
