Full Job Description

The Senior Technical Officer will participate in the provision of a specialised decontamination service of medical devices ensuring that the processes set in the departmental Quality Management System are met and devices are safe for use and contributing to the clinical care of the patient. Work closely with the Production Co-Ordinator identifying training needs of all staff members to ensure their professional skills and knowledge are up to date and meet their potential. Ensure that departmental training is provided and training records are up to date and filled according to the Quality Management System. You will work in close collaboration with other professionals e.g. Clinical Directors, Consultants, Clinical Nurse specialists and ward / department representatives to select best choice products required by clinical staff and their patients.t, You will assist the management to provide a professional cost effective service to all wards and departments within the Trust, and to other organisations with whom supply arrangements have been agreed; and to provide such technical advice as these services require.

  • Assist in undertaking assessments of Sterile Services Technicians and agree their aims and objectives for the coming year.
  • To communicate all relevant information within the SSD team to ensure the continual and efficient running of the service.
  • To communicate complex, technical information and advice to customers/ services users and other healthcare professionals in a polite and helpful manner.
  • Assist with datix and non-conformances investigation ensuring outcomes are recorded following departmental procedures and communicated to the relevant staff members.
  • Attend and actively participate in the Department's meetings and ensure information are effectively pass to all staff and the SSD management during hand-over meetings.
  • To have the knowledge and ability to raise concerns with senior staff.
