Full Job Description

The Senior Lighting Technician is a primary technical point of contact and oversees event setups, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. They handle rigging, sound, lighting, and AV equipment, and manage room setups. Additionally, they are responsible for operating in-house lighting and assisting the Technical Manager with maintenance, organization, and procurement of equipment.   • Supervise technical staff to ensure timely task completion and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Serve as a non-event Duty Manager and Emergency Response Team member.
  • Coordinate with Facilities for building maintenance and provide evening/weekend coverage.
  • Ensure all equipment is safe and meets health and safety standards.
  • Operate and repair in-house lighting, sound, and AV equipment during events.
  • Provide technical support for event setups, including rigging, staging, seating, and furniture.
  • Act as house rigger, advising on rigging matters and managing load ins/outs.
  • Open and secure the building on weekends.
  • Assist in maintaining the Building Management System.
  • Support the Technical Manager in training and developing the technical team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager.

    Good working knowledge of lighting and AV systems and good functional understanding of rigging systems. Comfortable with working at height.
  • Experience in the use and operation of moving heads and LED lighting.
  • Experience working within a live music venue.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with national and international promoters and hirers.
  • Desirable:
  • Good working knowledge of lighting networking systems, including SACN network protocols.
  • 3 Day rigging for the entertainment Industry or NRC Level 2.
  • Experience operating and programming Chamsys lighting consoles.
  • Completed an electrical apprenticeship to C&G L3-2365 standard. BS7671 18th Edition or BS7909 Temporary Installations.
  • IPAF Certification.
  • Experience with CAD or similar software applications.
  • This role requires a flexible approach to working hours, with some evening and weekend work, to fulfil business requirements.
