Full Job Description

UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK. Applications are invited for the post of Senior Technician (Teaching).

Working within a busy undergraduate laboratory in the Faculty of Science, the focus of the post will centre on provision for the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics and School of Computing. You will be part of a team of technicians responsible for all aspects of technical support for the busy Electronics Teaching Laboratory to necessitate the smooth running of undergraduate sessions and high level of service.

The role is responsible for all the preparation and clearing of equipment and materials used in the undergraduate practical teaching sessions and will help in all activities to necessitate the smooth running of undergraduate sessions. You will maintain and replenish stocks and give advice and assistance to academic staff and students.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Organisation of the daily running of teaching practicals within the teaching laboratory.

  • Preparation of specialist materials and equipment.

  • To maintain and support the teaching laboratory, including maintenance and support of equipment and specialist services.

  • Assisting students and other laboratory users with the facilities within the teaching laboratory.

  • Respond to general queries from staff and students who require access to the teaching laboratory facilities.

    You will have proven experience of working in a laboratory/workshop environment and must possess a thorough understanding of laboratory safety issues and good laboratory practice. You must have a minimum of level 3 qualification (or equivalent) to include a science subject or role specific qualification or equivalent experience.

    This full-time post is available from 18 November 2024 on an indefinite basis and will be campus based.
