Full Job Description

· Provide exceptional patient care which is underpinned by evidence based practice and OUH values. · Work in partnership with the patients' family and friends to be actively involved in the caring process on behalf of the patient. · Manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients. · Communicate effective information to patients/relatives/carers/ and all members of the multidisciplinary team. · Demonstrate high standards of perioperative care, reflecting the beliefs about professional perioperative practice and patient care commensurate with The Oxford Model for Exemplary Professional Nursing and Midwifery Practice. · Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of perioperative practice relevant to the clinical area. · Undertake the responsibilities associated with being a mentor and preceptor reflecting the beliefs about professional perioperative practice and patient care commensurate with the Oxford Model for Exemplary Professional and Nursing and Midwifery Practice. · Demonstrably contribute towards the continuing development of professional perioperative practice in the department. · Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to others at all times commensurate with The Code (NMC 2015). · Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient and that they are discharged in a timely manner ensuring effective communication with the family and/or relevant agencies as agreed.

Churchill Hospital operating theatres are looking for a self-motivated, experienced theatre scrub practitioner to take on this exciting and challenging role in the Churchill Theatres. This department comprises of 10 operating theatres, which cover a wide range of emergency and elective surgery including - UGI, LGI, HPB, Urology, Head and Neck, Transplant, Gynae Oncology, Breast Surgery, Endocrine & Robotic service. The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with substantial scrub experience at band 5. You will be responsible for leading within our dynamic theatre team on a day-to-day basis, whilst supporting the longer-term planning of care delivery within one specific speciality. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.
