Full Job Description

As a key member of NHS PH, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes doctors, specialist nurses, psychiatrists and therapists, with access to a network of specialist advisors as part of the PH central team.

The Senior CB therapists will provide highly specialised assessments and therapeutic interventions and offer expert advice, recommendations and consultation to other professionals within the regional and national team. They may also be required to provide advice to external agencies including primary care, occupational health and staff wellbeing support services.

The Senior CB Therapist will be accountable to the NHS PH Therapy and Group Lead (Therapy Lead) who will ensure they meet the requirements of their roles and responsibilities. The Therapy Lead will meet formally with the post holder, although will be available between times. The Senior therapist will provide supervision and advice to contracted and employed therapists within the service.

The Senior CB Therapist will receive induction to all processes, practices, culture and values of the PH service and be invited to participate in regional and annual networking events., PLEASE REFER to JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MORE INFORMATION

Act as a source of expert advice for regional multidisciplinary teams advising and recommending therapeutic pathways and approaches for individual patient care.

Maintain a high clinical profile, being highly visible, accessible and approachable to patients, clinicians, therapists and operational staff to ensure that open and honest communication channels are created and sustained.

Maintain own therapist role and caseload and ideally maintain own group lead/facilitator role.

Ensure the provision of specialised and consistent therapeutic interventions, including minimisation of risk of harm across the service, maintaining an overview of the standards of care being delivered and instigating remedial action if necessary and in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedure.

Work with related senior regional clinical leads, clinicians and therapists in assessing the therapeutic skills required to deliver a safe and high-quality service, identifying gaps and supporting developing programmes to address these issues.

Provide expert advice to clinicians and therapists, responding to queries and issues arising from the management of individual patients therapy and facilitate safe and appropriate , timely discharge.

Provide support to employed and contracted therapists in managing their own caseloads, auditing quality of provision and escalating and acting on concerns where appropriate.

NHS Practitioner Health (PH) is a specialist primary care led service for the treatment of NHS and care staff who have mental health, addiction or physical health issues affecting their work. PH is an integrated team of primary care and secondary care practitioners with rapid access care pathways to specialist secondary and tertiary care.
