Full Job Description

  • Help drive the development and improvement of gas trading analytics in Equinor.

  • Build and maintain the analytical platform for fundamental analysis of the global gas market and other correlated energy markets such as power and coal.

  • Have a particular focus on the fundamental drivers for European gas prices.

  • Generate your own trading ideas and follow these up, working closely with traders and other analysts within both Asset Trading and Global Financial Trading.

  • Help ensure that our models are built within a framework that promotes consistency and longevity of the models.

  • Guide the use of digital tools to be compliant with our cyber security objectives.


  • The Gas Trading team monetizes optionality related to Equinor's pipeline and LNG positions and also has an extensive VaR(Value at Risk)mandate to trade on a proprietary basis in the global gas market and in other energy markets based on analytics and market views. The teams consist of Traders, Fundamental Analysts, Quants and Data Scientists. This role sits in the midst of a dynamic team in an exciting market and offers a great opportunity to become a key resource within it.

  • Candidates with Bachelor's level or above in a relevant educational background within Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar.

  • Experience of an analytical role in a Natural Gas, Power or LNG environment would be a significant advantage.

  • Demonstratable capability to build a consistant framework for analytical models, thereby maximising the time the models are useful.

  • Programming and modelling experience, preferably Python and PowerBI.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
