Full Job Description

To provide senior medical leadership in the Acute Medicine Department, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all categories of patients and the proper functioning of the Department.

The post holder will gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of work within the Acute Medicine Department. They will be expected to work as a middle grade doctor covering all clinical areas of the Department. There will always be a consultant available for advice/supervision. During this time the post holder will work primarily in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and in the Ambulatory Emergency Centre (AEC) as well as providing support as needed on the Short Stay Unit. A tailored rotation will also include work at the County Hospital site offering experience in a District General Hospital Environment and therefore providing a balanced experience in addition to the tertiary centre environment offered by the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Participation in out of hours / on call work is expected and will be re numerated according to the terms and conditions set out in this contract.

There will always be a consultant available for advice/supervision at all times. This post will support the established team in further developing our recent AMU expansion to 58 beds as well as the further development of our well established and nationally acclaimed AEC.
