Full Job Description

  • Deliver safe and cost effective servicing and preventative maintenance of JTS fleet vehicles and associated equipment.
  • To carry out first line fault diagnosis, fault identification, rectification and quality control.
  • To attend off site (remote) breakdowns if and when required.
  • To maintain COSH - Health and Safety records, and carry out inspections at agreed intervals.
  • The supervision of workshop staff as appropriate, covering for workshop manager in times of absence.
  • To ensure compliance of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of SAP Materials Management to support Stores in times of absence.
  • To maintain records and complete paperwork in a timely manner as directed by line management.
  • To undertake all such other duties to the grade as may be required, including the specific duties of similar work or lesser graded posts.
  • This opportunity will enable you to maintain and improve your skills, with a focus on meeting training objectives. We will also encourage your ideas on how we can support our policing colleagues through improvements to vehicle maintenance.

  • Level 3 minimum Vehicle Maintenance & Repair NVQ or equivalent
  • UK Driver's license is desirable, but not essential.
  • Proven experience of leading, motivating and influencing others to achieve own, team and departmental objectives is desirable but not essential.
  • But what is essential is a thirst for new technology such as ULEV which includes full electric / Hybrid and Hydrogen powered vehicles, and the desire to develop your skills to meet the future challenge.

  • 37 hour working week (Mon-Fri) for Sussex (with the opportunity to accrue flexi-time) and a 36 hour working week for Surrey (with the opportunity of OT as required); part-time and flexible working patterns also available
