Full Job Description

Want to play your part in keeping the country safe? This is your opportunity. We're looking for a Server Engineer to provide technical support for Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) at the CTPHQ National Customer Services Centre (CSC) just east of Birmingham. You'll use your skills to keep vital ICT running smoothly so officers can perform their vital role. Join us - and help CTP to protect the UK every day.

As a Server Engineer, you'll provide server, storage and infrastructure technical support for the CTPHQ National Customer Services Centre (CSC). Tackling operational and project tasks, you'll maintain and develop national CTP IT services.

Day to day, you'll lead on incidents, problems, changes and improvements, visiting other sites if necessary. It's all about ensuring that national infrastructure is available, secure and supported to best practice standards so officers can carry out CTP operations.

With public safety at stake, this is a crucial role. You'll therefore need solid experience as a 2nd line server infrastructure engineer in a technically diverse environment. Thanks to this background, you'll have strong technical skills including a good grasp of server, storage and virtualisation technology. We're also looking for experience of HP and Dell server hardware, an ITIL service environment, and ideally, IT project implementation.

Join us, and you'll be part of a team of engineers covering 7am to 7pm weekdays from the CSC technical ops centre and on call (roughly 1 week in 4). The role is office-based with occasional opportunities to work from home. Thanks to the shift structure, this role allows for working compressed hours over a four-day week.

Besides the rewarding nature of the job itself, a competitive salary and a Civil Service pension, you'll benefit from excellent career and professional development.

Confidentiality Agreement
Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.
