Full Job Description

Thanet District Council are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual to work within our Building Regulation Department.

You will be joining a busy, friendly, supportive and professional team within a forward-thinking and innovative service which is driving change in technology to enhance the service we deliver and providing its officers with efficient and modern working practices supporting a great work-life balance.

The job purpose is:

To deliver a high quality building control service to the public that is consistent, open and balanced to compliance with current legislation.
Duties include application registration, fee receipt and financial management, fee calculation and checking, validation, making up and issue of related documentation.
Keep managed the process relating to Dangerous Structure sites linking in legal, financial and office correspondence. .
To liaise closely with the public, external partner agencies and internal departments to increase effectiveness of enforcement work.
To acquire & maintain specialist expertise relating to building control and the associated legislation.

Essential Requirements

Knowledge

Knowledge of Building Control legislation, processes and procedures are desirable although training will be provided to an otherwise suitable applicant.

Good communication skills are essential, together with the ability to provide excellent customer service and build professional relationships with service users.
The ability to work with a team environment whilst being able to be focused on independent management of workload and goals.
Good level of interpersonal and customer care skills.
Experience

Previous experience of working within the Built Environment or similar environment dealing with customers, the public and sensitive situations.
Experience of administration within a highly competitive business environment would be advantageous and proven skills are essential., Disability Confident
