Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Service Manager for the Medicine Division. You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Cardiology service. This is an 18 month Fixed Term assignment.
The role is an ideal opportunity for an inspirational, motivated and driven individual to formally act as Service Manager ensuring smooth running of the services for compliance with National targets including the 18 week RTT, financial and performance metrics.
You will act as a point of escalation for day to day operational issues within this service. You will be supported by a Service Support Manager and a Waiting List Manager who you will work closely with to address issues in a timely manner.
You will need to be an enthusiastic, proactive individual with the ability to meet demanding deadlines whilst under pressure. You will be working closely with the Divisional and Deputy Director for Medicine, Clinical Director, Head of Nursing and Clinical Teams. You will therefore need excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with Consultants and senior staff, challenge practice and make decisions taking responsibility for their outcomes., The Service Manager's key role is to support delivery of key operational targets and service developments within the team with clear delegated responsibilities from the Deputy and Divisional Director. They will work closely with the Cardiology service Triumvirate and Divisional teams in ensuring that the directorate delivers its quality, activity, workforce, and financial requirements. The post holder will lead on, and support, service developments and be responsible for the delivery of individual strategic and operational projects. The Service Manager will act as the point of contact for escalation of any operational issues within the service.,

  • Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of service or services. Including being the escalation point for any operational issues relating to the services and addressing them in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for development of specialty service plans that are consistent with the strategic aims and objectives of the Trust.

  • Undertake with the development of business and strategic plans, negotiating then securing resources needed for completion and delivery of the project.

  • Responsible alongside the Deputy Divisional Director and Divisional Director for capacity planning and negotiation/delivery of divisions' performance agreement.

  • Work with the Deputy Divisional Director for negotiation of service level agreements within the corporate framework.

  • Ensure business cases are produced for service developments taking account of, activity, income projections and appropriate service models as part of the business case process.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of the service and business unit policies.

  • Collation and provision of Directorate information to support the Divisional Performance Management System.

  • Responsible for action in relation to business/organisational solutions on performance including liaising with other services/providers e.g., theatres and cancer services.

  • Manage and co-ordinate administration processes to enable effective monitoring and performance managements of all access and activity targets e.g., RTT, Cancer and Diagnostics.

  • Gather and provide information regarding demand and capacity and utilisation.

  • Working in conjunction with the Deputy Divisional Director to introduce systems to ensure collection and analysis of data for continuous performance measurement of services across the directorate.

  • Highlight and report any areas of over / under performance and take corrective action as appropriate.

  • Ensure rotas and on call arrangements are in place to manage the directorate services 24 hours a day/365 day a year.

  • Comply with financial processes and deadlines

  • To deliver financial key performance indicators and forecast outturn with delegated responsibility from the Deputy Divisional Director.

  • Develop and maintain project plans to deliver productivity and efficiency targets., Applications will be transferred to TRAC system, by completing an application your are giving authorisation for the transfer of your data.

    If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £13. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
    Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
