Full Job Description

Housing & Communities is the landlord for the Council's owned properties and offers a range of services to tenants and leaseholders. The directorate includes an in-house maintenance team that delivers a range of repairs and planned improvements to homes throughout the borough, ensuring that homes remain safe, comfortable and energy efficient. The team also undertakes a range of maintenance services to the Council's other built assets and traded services sites. The post holder will develop and manage a wide range of complex construction, procurement, financial management and business support teams and contractors, to ensure frontline services are delivered to the highest standards, while delivering value for money and meeting internal and external customers needs.

  • A level 5 or equivalent qualification, in the Built Environment, Management, Surveying or Financial Management
  • Post qualification experience and full Corporate Membership of an appropriate professional body including maintaining appropriate CPD levels.
  • A demonstrable range of construction, health & safety, financial and leadership qualifications or training relevant to the position
  • Extensive management experience of designing, adapting and leading large diverse teams working in a complex, professional asset management or financial environment
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of property construction, maintenance and facilities management issues and relevant legislation.
  • Significant experience of managing a large diverse and complex workforce to include professional, technical, administrative and craft staff including experience of managing all aspects of employee performance and conduct
