Full Job Description

Our Transportation division is seeking a Service Manager to work on our large Local Authority professional services contract for Buckinghamshire Council, Buckinghamshire Highways. As Service Manager - Account Management, you will be responsible for the management of the commercial and governance aspects of the account, ensuring strong performance in these areas. You will support the Account Director in client engagement activities, driving the contract and delivering the strategic direction for client management, delivery, and commercial performance. You will play a key role in fostering collaboration with the client and stakeholders, promoting an Alliance culture, and helping exceed the client's priorities for the Contract. This role is expected to work across the wider AtkinsRéalis business, providing support and collaboration across other Local Transport and Strategic Highways contracts, including bidding for future opportunities. Whilst we offer flexible working policies, this role would require you to be based out of Buckinghamshire office a minimum of 2 - 3 days a week and last date for application submission is Wednesday, 13th November 2024. Your Purpose:

  • Lead the day-to-day client engagement activities, acting as the focal point for client engagement on contract wide matters.
  • Own and maintain long-term and collaborative partnerships with the Client and the Term Maintenance Contractor (Balfour Beatty Living Places) to generate significant benefits for our Client, AtkinsRéalis, and other involved parties.
  • Hold overall responsibility for the account P&L and reporting this through the business, providing advice, support and direction to Project Managers and Directors.
  • Support the Account Director and other Service Managers as part of a strong leadership team to achieve the overall objectives set for the account.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for StageGate process compliance and commercial reviews of proposals, embedding a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement in the commercial management of the multi-disciplinary delivery teams and services.
  • Ensure strong commercial performance, including financial management and evaluation, managing highly scrutinised and significant budgets on behalf of the Council.
  • Drive the strategic direction of the contract in terms of governance, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Be the main commercial and contractual interface with the client and TMC.
  • Provide independent challenge to Project Managers on the performance of their projects and portfolios across the entire contract.

    Degree qualified, ideally with Chartered Membership in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional Membership or Fellowship or equivalent relevant to the discipline.
  • Contract Management Expertise: Extensive experience in managing contracts, including negotiation, execution, and performance monitoring. Proven ability to drive revenue growth and maintain profitability.
  • Client Relationship Management: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Governance and Compliance: Strong background in ensuring adherence to governance frameworks and compliance with regulatory requirements. Experience in implementing and maintaining robust governance structures.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with business objectives and drive operational excellence.
  • Risk Management: Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with commercial activities and governance processes.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Financial Acumen: Evidence of managing financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ability to manage financial performance and achieve financial targets.
  • Project Management: Expertise in managing complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous improvement, with a track record of implementing process enhancements that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
