Full Job Description

Our Transportation division is seeking a Service Manager to work on our large Local Authority professional services contract for Buckinghamshire Council, Buckinghamshire Highways. As Service Manager - Business Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the business operations for the Aylesbury-based team delivering engineering services for the contract. You will support the Account Director in driving business operations compliance, people and performance management and development to support the strategic direction for client management, delivery, and technical performance. You will lead the management of risks on the contract and play a key role in fostering collaboration with the Client and stakeholders, promoting an Alliance culture, and helping exceed the Client's priorities for the Contract. This role is expected to work across the wider AtkinsRéalis business, providing support and collaboration across other Local Transport and Strategic Highways contracts, including bidding for future opportunities. Whilst we offer flexible working policies, this role would require you to be based out of Buckinghamshire office a minimum of 2 - 3 days a week and last date for application submission is Wednesday, 13th November, 2024. Your Purpose:

  • Ownership of Contract Risk and Opportunity Management: Being responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks and opportunities for the contract to ensure they positively impact the contract and the Alliance.
  • Overall responsibility for delivery of contract Key Performance Indicators, appointing relevant owners and assuring compliance with the requirements.
  • Lead on weekly and monthly operational business reporting, including attendance at weekly and monthly practice management meetings.
  • Develop and implement a Learning and Development plan for the co-located staff on the contract and undertake performance management activities.
  • Foster long-term and collaborative partnerships with the Client and the Term Maintenance Contractor (Balfour Beatty Living Places) to generate significant benefits for our Client, AtkinsRéalis, and other involved parties.
  • Support the Account Director and other Service Managers as part of a strong leadership team to achieve the overall objectives set for the account.
  • Embed a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement in the operational performance of the local contract team.
  • Act as a Project Director on key major schemes within the portfolio.
  • What can you bring:
  • Degree qualified, ideally with Chartered Membership in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional Membership or Fellowship or equivalent relevant to the discipline.
  • Operational Leadership: Successfully managed daily operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity across teams.
  • Team Management: Supervised and mentored a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience of managing standard financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. A track record of managing financial performance and achieving financial targets.
  • Client and Partner Relations: Managed relationships with key clients and delivery partners and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Process and Reporting: Developed and maintained comprehensive reporting systems to track operational performance and support decision-making.
