Sexual Health Outreach Assistant Practitioner (Young People & PrEP)

This role will give particular focus to promoting the under 19's axess sexual health service, using innovative and appropriate media and marketing techniques tailored to young people, including those at highest risk of sexual ill health due to sexual health inequalities. By using evidence based interventions to inform behavioural change the post holder will endeavour to improve engagement with young people (including vulnerable young people) and facilitate co-production with this cohort to inform the improvement of service delivery and patient involvement in service development. This post will also support the activity and productivity of outreach staff delivering targeted work with vulnerable groups at risk of sexual ill-health. The principal target groups that Sexual Health Outreach provides services to are, Utilising Trust policies and protocols, under the proximal supervision of the clinical practitioner, the assistant practitioner will: o Undertake asymptomatic screening and be able to order routine bloods/investigations and have a basic understanding of normal and altered values. o Utilise clinical skills appropriately to enhance the delivery of patient care e.g. Venepuncture, immunisation and provision of medication under direction of 'Patient Specific Directions' (PSD's). Specific focus will be given to supporting the provision of Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to those eligible, by supporting a "PrEP Express" model of clinical delivery in regional sites across the axess footprint. o Manage and maintain own treatment lists for Chlamydia and a range of routine contraception's, with use of PSD's. Increasing the provision of Chlamydia screening for 15-24 year olds, treatment and Partner Notification as part of the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) o Assess those patients with special need such as those under 16 and discuss with clinical team where appropriate and according to Trust guidelines. o Function as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team Organise and prioritise time effectively.
