Full Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic administrator to provide support to the delivery of care for children and young people with haematological and oncological diagnoses. The post holder will be required to be a central point of communication for shared care centres, primary care and community teams involved in the care of children and young people undergoing treatment in the South Thames region., 2.1 To act as the first point of contact for users of the service and to proactively deal with telephone enquiries from patients, parents, GPs, POSCU staff and community nursing teams in a courteous manner.
2.2 To communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, patients, relatives, and other teams involved in the delivery of care.
2.3 To provide non-clinical information to patients and their carers regarding appointments.
2.4 To communicate relevant information to appropriate team members or departments as required.
2.5 To document and distribute clinical and general correspondence in line with Trust standards.
2.6 To input and maintain clinical information on the Trust information system and other patient related information as required.

The Royal Marsden NHS Children and Young People's services together with children's services at St Georges Hospital operate as the Principle Treatment Centre (PTC) for children and young people diagnosed with cancer in the South East of England. The PTC works in collaboration with 18 paediatric oncology shared care units (POSCU) across the region to deliver safe and effective care as locally as possible to the patient's home. The position of shared care administrator (SCA) is pivotal in maintaining communication between the PTC and POSCUs, community nursing teams and primary care services.

The role involves directing, managing and triaging telephone calls, email and written correspondence related to children and young people's care. The post is located at the Royal Marsden Sutton site where a 24 hour advice line is available to staff working at St Georges Hospital, POSCUs, community nursing teams, patients and relatives. This role is essential in facilitating the effective running of this phone line, streamlining calls and documenting outcomes. The role has the additional responsibility of providing administration support for the clinical nurse specialist team.
