Full Job Description

  • To have a full knowledge of the companys procedures and policies and to adhere to them.
  • Check that all mechanical and electrical systems and tools are working and in good repair at all times.
  • Respond to and rectify emergency maintenance faults raised on the maintenance reporting platforms or software, prioritising those which impact Health & Safety, guests or guest service in the first instance; ensuring response times are met and are followed up with the guest once complete.
  • Updating the maintenance reporting platform whilst on duty adhering to the system use procedures.
  • Undertake regular daily patrols of the hotel front and back of house to carry out maintenance spotting in order to identify any corrective repair works that need to be carried out; for example, the replacement of light bulbs within public areas.
  • Reporting any fire life safety matters immediately to your manager/s or in their absence the security or duty manager.
  • Complete planned preventive inspections as directed and log on relevant software and log sheets where required updating the maintenance reporting software and relevant log sheets.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects, painting, light carpentry and/or special repairs work throughout the hotel to ensure that all areas are well maintained and presented.
  • Liaise and communicate regularly with all operation departments within the hotel to ensure that the engineering department is fully integrated, approachable and aware of any maintenance and safety issues as they arise.
  • To be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/ areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.

    The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
  • Electrical or Mechanical UK trade qualification.
  • Experience and luxury hospitality environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering issues promptly and effectively, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted hotel operations.
  • In-depth understanding of local and industry-specific regulations and compliance standards related to building codes, safety protocols, and environmental regulations, ensuring the hotel meets all legal requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with team members, other hotel departments, and external contractors. Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Possess advanced technical knowledge and expertise in engineering systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building management systems, ensuring the highest standards of maintenance and operation.
