Full Job Description

The Shift Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of the waste facility processing assets, mechanical systems, and general site infrastructure. Supporting both planned and reactive maintenance work related activities to ensure the optimal performance and condition of the waste facility. Whilst training and development is provided and encouraged, please see below for the minimum requirements of the role

  • Recognised apprenticeship in relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering).
  • Education to ONC / HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Waste process knowledge an advantage.
  • Ability to effectively manage work schedules in a timely manner.
  • Organised and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • CMMS maintenance software applications.
  • Effective problem-solving techniques.
  • PC & IT literate.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal)
  • Detailed knowledge of preventative, predictive & lifecycle maintenance activities.

  • Lancashire Waste Contract. Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.
