Full Job Description

The Senior Shopper Strategy Manager will take the overarching category vision and shopper strategy and translate it to show how to unlock key opportunities across priority channels i.e. pivoting the category and segment opportunities to highlight channel opportunities for growth, and working closely with the Shopper Insight Manager, they will leverage both desktop research and shopper research programmes to help build action plans that can be executed via Shopper Marketing Leads e.g. fixturisation and strategic partnerships. They will be central to the development of new, differentiated and innovative shopper and category solutions across both Retail and Hospitality channels. These strategies and activities will enable us to partner with key retailers and enhance our strong customer relationships and demonstrate unrivalled category and shopper thought-leadership. This will drive mutual benefit for both retailers and Britvic, with incremental category growth for our customers and a clear advantage for our brands. This will in turn grow shareholder value and enhance Britvic's reputation within soft drinks and wider FMCG. This role is central to our planning and execution of category and shopper initiatives, therefore strong links will be required across the Category Strategy, Category Management, Shopper Marketing, Customer Management, Brand Operations and Marketing teams. This role will report to the Head of Shopper Strategy & Insights. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Shopper Strategy & Insights, translating our soft drinks vision into actionable opportunities for priority channels. In addition to sharing any relevant thinking to Online and Immediate Consumption teams.
  • Clear accountability for the 6S Path To Purchase framework and associated tools, training and customer engagement.
  • Drive and support the execution of key category and shopper/guest initiatives to maximise category visibility and impact through all point of purchase levers.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Shopper Marketing Manager to ensure shopper initiatives being developed are relevant to the shopper/guest or customer in priority channels, e.g. fixturisation and portfolio execution.
  • Work closely with the Category Strategy team and Category and Shopper Director to ensure segment strategies are incorporating key shopper focussed opportunities by channel.
  • Partner with the wider Category, Shopper and Customer Management functions to anticipate evolving needs and provide thought-leadership on key topics.
  • Develop the right tools, delivered in the right way to upskill the Category, Shopper Marketing, Channel Development and Customer Management teams and leverage a Sales Toolkit to facilitate knowledge sharing with bronze customers.
  • Support Gold and where possible strategic Silver customer immersions on our category vision and how to deliver gold standard initiatives at the point of purchase in their channel.
  • Lead insight flow into channel teams to influence AOP plans.
  • Bring to life the 'so what' from shopper insight through successful embedding into the business through close collaboration with the Shopper Insight Manager.

    Relevant category management, category development, category strategy, channel development or other strategic experience, preferably in an FMCG business, with a track record of successfully driving category, brand and NPD growth.
  • Expertise in developing strategic category development activities and working with teams to deliver them with customers, with the right balance of strategic thinking and execution.
  • Analytical ability to turn strategic insights into execution
  • Strong story-telling (written and presentation skills) to engage and influence others to implement your recommendations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage a wide network of stakeholders (internal and external) and influence at the right level.
  • Experience of working with multiple customers, possibly across different channels and in different category missions such as On The Go and Take Home.
  • Experience working across different channels e.g. Grocery, Convenience, Foodservice, Licensed, Online
  • Creative judgement - acquired through previous shopper or consumer marketing involvement
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management skills
