Full Job Description

At NHS Blood and Transplant we are responsible for blood, organ, tissue, and stem cell donation and carrying out cutting edge research along with providing specialist services to hospitals. It takes all types of volunteer donors to make the donations we need, and it takes all types of people to ensure our life saving work goes ahead. Come and work with us at what is an exciting time to join NHSBT, our brand-new Blood Donation Centre is opening in the centre of Brighton - BN1 4BE and will be your place of work. But dont worry- we are looking for you to start with us as soon as possible so until our new centre opens, you will join our mobile session and will be based initially at BN43 6RJ. The Donor Centre will be open 7 days a week, with a mixture of early and late shifts across the week. Full day shifts are 10 hours (including breaks), with early shifts being, 8:00am, Taking clinical responsibility for ensuring the safe assessment and blood donation of our donors. Being accountable for the safe running of a blood donation session. Taking responsibility for ensuring an excellent donor experience. Maintaining the competency and skills of your team and yourself. Being able to adapt communication styles for difficult conversations. Maintaining your professional development to help us deliver improvements to our practice. Your working hours will be: Full day shifts are 10 hours (including breaks), with early shifts being 8:00am 6:00pm, and late shifts 10:30am 8:30pm- but there are never any night shifts here! Work-life balance is important to us, and we welcome applications from candidates who would consider flexible working, for example fixed days, fixed shifts, or part shift coverage. The working days are Monday Friday, weekends off (excluding Bank Holidays). Weekend and bank holiday working will be required. You can expect to work some long
hours, but you wont be working more than five days a week.
