Do you want to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, specialist Unit, at the forefront of delivering complex, specialist and innovative drug therapies? Do you need a working pattern that fits in with a busy life, in an area that is open Monday-Friday 08.30-17.00, with weekends and Bank Holidays off? Then Newton Abbot Planned Infusion Unit could be the place for you, we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Registered Nurse to work within The Planned Infusion Unit, supporting the Band 7 Senior Sister. This post will support the increasing demand on the local service and is in line with the national trend of increased patient activity and available therapy. You will be expected to provide a high standard of care, support the safe administration of supportive treatments within the Planned Infusion Unit at Newton Abbot Hospital, part of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. You will be supporting patients with chronic conditions achieve an improved quality of life, help prevent exacerbations of these conditions and possible hospital admissions.,

  • To work on The Planned Infusion Unit at Newton Abbott Community Hospital providing specialist infusions and tests for patients referred from Rheumatology, Dermatology, Neurology, Osteoporosis and Multiple Sclerosis specialist Nurses and Consultants and GP Surgeries.
  • To manage the day to day running of the unit, alongside the existing Band 6 RN ,along with supervisory responsibility for the Band 3 Health Care Assistant. You will be working closely with other professional colleagues to ensure that consistently high standards and quality of care for patients are maintained and that the patient's needs are met. You will also provide cover for the Senior Sister in their absence.
  • To improve practice by continuous professional development. You will gain a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver specialist infusion medications.
  • To conform to COSHH and Health and Safety regulations when dealing with cytotoxic monoclonal antibody drugs and the risks associated with them, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • To provide clinical advice, training, education and support to patients, relatives and other professional colleagues.
  • To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carer's, visitors and staff and to comply with the Trust and relevant network policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, values and expected behaviours.

    The Planned Infusion Unit is a specialist Unit located within Newton Abbott Community Hospital. It is part of The Torbay and South Devon Trust NHS Foundation Trust.
