Full Job Description

  • To have joint responsibility with other Unit Sisters for the operational management and service delivery processes within the Neonatal and Special Care Unit. This includes line management of all ward staff, managing and monitoring resources within a defined budget and contributing to the corporate agenda.
  • To lead and promote a quality service using research and evidence based practice including the setting and monitoring of clinical standards.
  • To act as the clinical lead within the Unit on a shift basis. To ensure safe staffing across the Paediatric Division.
  • Rotation onto night and day shifts

    We are the Lead level 3 NICU for Surrey and part of the Surrey, Sussex and Kent Network, providing expert care for 28 of the sickest and most complex babies using the most up to date ventilatory support techniques such as Vapotherm in the delivery room.
  • We have an 8 bedded Transitional Care Unit (TCU) where Mothers can remain with their babies up until discharge. We host the Surrey arm of the Neonatal Transport Service. As a Band 7 nurse, you will be a role model and your expertise and experience will be valued as you provide mentorship to those nurses progressing through the Bands. Deputising for the Band 8 means you will have a clear understanding of the unit's goals and priorities, and part of your role will be to take managerial responsibilities for a designated area.
