Full Job Description

Are you a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse ready to develop your managerial skills and work with us to support our vibrant and busy Children's Ward and team?
We need someone who will co-ordinate the 50 bedded unit facilitating flow from ED and the Paediatric Observation and Assessment unit , support a team of junior nurses and work clinical shifts mainly based on B/C side of the ward.
The Children's ward cares for children with medical and surgical conditions with A side of the ward incorporating a 4 HDU beds providing care for the more unwell children within the unit., You will co-ordinate the Children's Unit ensuring safe personal and effective care is upheld. Providing strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice. You will manage flow across paediatric areas contributing to efficient patient flow across the trust., You will act as a positive role model and maintain professionalism at all times.
- Be prepared to undergo further training in management and leadership.
- Ensure safe staffing levels using safer care and erostere
- Assisting band 7's in the management of staff and the ward.
- Deal with complaints.
- Liaise with bed management team ensuring effective flow throughout the unit working in close partnership with children's urgent care and assessment unit.
- You will uphold a link nurse position attending meetings and feeding back information and any developments to all staff and keeping link nurse learning folder up to date.
- You will co-ordinate a junior team of link nurses helping them develop their skills and knowledge
- You will ensure a high standard of nursing care by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patient needs.
- Lead in audits and take an active role in implementing the learning from them
- Take an active role in the multi disciplinary team of Nurses, Doctors, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, and our play team attending ward meetings and weekly Share to Care updates.
- Participate in all mandatory training and undertake learning and development opportunities as identified by manager.
- You will demonstrate your interest and capabilities in caring for children and young people in hospital.

Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
