Full Job Description

As Site Inspections Officer, you will be responsible for visiting sites across the borough in order to investigate all reports of alleged breaches of planning control; recording your findings (taking measurements / taking photographs / consulting with owners and occupiers); and then advising the Planning Enforcement team of your findings. You will also be responsible for starting formal enforcement investigations and assisting in those where appropriate.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, an eye for detail, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills; and will be able to gain access to some sites by ladder or scaffolding. Where a planning degree is not currently held, the successful candidate will also be encouraged to apply to, and will be fully supported whilst obtaining the Chartered Town Planner degree apprenticeship in partnership with London South Bank University. This scheme allows an apprentice to study for an RTPI accredited qualification and undertake work-based learning to become a Chartered Town Planner (one day a week, fully paid). The course will take between 3 and 6 years depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.

We'd love to hear from you if you are considering your next career move and have a passion for planning in a dynamic urban environment!
