Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join a small nursing team delivering care to patients with a skin cancer diagnosis. This is an interesting and varied post involving face to face and telephone care, management of patients with skin cancer including being there at diagnosis to support and supporting them through their journey. Your skills and knowledge should also enable you to undertake nurse led follow up clinics of patients with a skin cancer diagnosis, under the care of a doctor. At band 6 entry level you will have support from the existing Lead Skin Cancer Nurses and the wider nursing team . Regular in-house teaching and appropriate external conferences also support essential knowledge in this fast moving field. Personal attributes you will need are excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail even when working under pressure. You must also be proactive and motivated,

  • Running follow-up clinics
  • Providing education and counselling to patient, carers ad their families
  • Attending MDT meetings
  • Working alongside and liaising with the Multidisciplinary team
  • Answering the phone and triaging calls
  • Supporting patients face to face and by telephone
  • Ensuring timely care for patients

    to learn this specialist field to high standard and deliver high-quality, safe, evidence based and compassionate patient care, with excellent organisational skills and be computer literate.
