Full Job Description

Exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Skin Health Service to undertake specific tasks within Skin Health dermatology clinics to assist with patient support and protocolised care under the direction of the Service Coordinator.

To provide a deputising function for the Skin Health service co-ordinator to create essential resilience within the service in regard to patient related activities and interface with the clinical team which is comprised of medical personnel, healthcare assistants and administrators. This role will also involve supporting patients with queries about their care who contact the Service.

To communicate effectively with clinicians, the service coordinator, HCAs, the service lead and the administrative team in the Adult referral hub to ensure that operationally care is well-planned and coordinated.

o To provide non-clinical advice, information and guidance to patients in relation to interventions and treatments.

o To create clinic ledgers within SystmOne, allocate patients to minor operations clinics as specified by clinicians, and collate histology results and MDT alerts on behalf of clinicians.

o To comment on proposals, policies and propose changes to working practices for own working area.

o To undertake patch testing preparation, tapingdiscs to patients' skin containing allergens, results to be interpreted by clinician.

o To supervise pregnancy testing in clinics where prescribing protocols require a negative test.

o To provide a formal chaperone function at specified clinics.

o To work under the direction of the service coordinator and be able to deputise for some specific service coordinator functions.

o To be able to concentrate at the computer for long periods, with interruptionsduring tasks in which accuracy is of high importance.

o To be able to work under pressure.

o To be able to prioritise workload effectively.

o To be able to deal with urgent/unpredictable issues appropriately.

o Occasional exposure to calls from patients who may be depressed, emotional, anxious, angry and stressed.

o May be exposed to upsetting information and circumstances.

o To be aware of issues of safeguarding and ensure that appropriate advice is sought and knows how to escalate concerns when required.

o To be present on role of formal chaperone when patients are undergoing intimate

examinations.

o Will be exposed to bodily fluids and ensure they are disposed of within Trust Policy.

o Will be required to carry clinical and other equipment, using light to moderate effort when necessary.
