Full Job Description
We are looking for a Small Providers Advisor to join our Small Providers team, taking responsibility for undertaking proportionate regulation of all registered housing providers with less than 1,000 units of social housing. Reporting to the Small Provider Manager (Consumer), you will deliver high quality, effective regulation with specific focus on consumer and governance standards.
This role involves working as part of a small team, leading direct engagement with social housing landlords where you will be expected to show judgement and autonomy., Your role will include ensuring effective regulation of around 1100 small registered social housing landlords. You will carry out proportionate interventions to obtain assurance of compliance with regulatory standards and will use your judgement to recommend the most appropriate regulatory response where compliance with standards requires improvement. You will work with landlords to ensure remediation plans are implemented, and so a sound knowledge of organisational governance, risk management and consumer expectations is crucial. You will also lead the assessment of applications for landlords wishing to de-register.
The role has much autonomy and you will work with a large variety of organisations from small almshouse charities, Abbeyfields and housing co-operatives, to Local Authority Housing Departments and housing associations with up to 1,000 units of social housing. As our successful candidate you should have relevant experience of working in a governance, risk management or finance environment, with the ability to evaluate multiple sources of information to reach sound conclusions. Along with having excellent organisational skills, you should be used to delivering results and making evidenced based and proportionate recommendations which support effective decision making.
You will be articulate and credible, with experience of producing written and oral briefings that draw out and analyse the key issues and risks, you'll combine this expertise with the ability to develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships at senior levels with colleagues, social housing providers, advisors, and external agencies as well as having highly developed influencing skills and resilience to deal with challenging situations.
This role can be based out of any of RSH's core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
