Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking for professional development supporting the delivery of a brand-new role providing support around giving up smoking. This person will work alongside our existing alcohol services to provide support for people who wish to stop smoking. They will work in close partnership with the existing Essex Countywide services. The service will forge positive relationships with partner agencies and work closely with the other smoking cessation worker in Essex., As one of two senior practitioners (the other based in another treatment provider, Open Road) you will be the Stop Smoking Lead and will be part of the Alcohol Recovery Community Team. You will work with clients and promote referrals to local stop smoking services. You will work collaboratively as a virtual team to encourage individuals to stop smoking and work with the Essex Well-being Service to develop effective pathways/referral routes for individuals to receive support to stop smoking.

The role will be based in one of our existing offices in the Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon or Harlow areas. There can be flexibility around the location, but travel will be required across all areas to ensure effective service delivery.

The Service

The service will cover the County of Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock) and will work closely with Open Road and Essex County Council. The service will provide support to current service users who wish to give up smoking. It will work with partners to provide alternative solutions such as patches and vapes.

Previous experience in the field is desirable but not essential. We are seeking dedicated individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best service possible to the people that use our services.

About you

To join us a senior practitioner you will need:

Experience of working in a health and social care (or comparable field) and an understanding of the complex issues presented by people who use the service.
Evidence of effective partnership working.
Experience of managing a caseload and excellent organisational skills.
To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and be familiar with database management systems.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Determined, with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn.
Passionate and enthusiastic about making a real difference to the lives of people we support.

Starting salary of £24,750, with opportunity to access potential yearly salary increments subject to appraisal, meaning potential salary increase up to £29,250
