Full Job Description

You would receive a warm welcome if you joined the Learning Disability and Autism Team at Newcastle City Council. The team is structured to maximize the support that we can offer to people, their families, carers and our partner agencies and comprises of three sections; Intake which focuses on new referrals and short-term work including preventative and strengths-based work that promotes the independence of people at the point of referral; Intervention for those with more complex needs and more in-depth work to fulfil statutory obligations, often involving applications to the Court of Protection; and Review for annual reviews but also situations where unexpected changes are required to existing services. There are dedicated managers attached to each section with support from Senior Practitioners and a wealth of knowledgeable and experienced Social Work and Social Care Assessment Officer colleagues.

We are looking to recruit into the Review section. The post holders will join a small group of colleagues who are reviewing the care and support needs of people who have complex packages that include overnight support.

Part of the role will also involve identify people who have social care contribution debt and to lead a proactive approach to helping resolve the barriers to them making payment.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who are committed to providing an excellent service and who bring a comprehensive knowledge and skill-base to the challenge of working with adults who have a learning disability and/or autism, their families and carers. You must be an enthusiastic team player who is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for adults. Candidates will be required to have the determination, commitment and social work value base to create positive outcomes for adults in the City.
