Full Job Description

You will manage a Social Work Team who have a specialist interest in working with people with a Mental Health Disorder. Working alongside Health colleagues to provide support to residents of Oldham who have a severe & enduring mental health disorder supporting them to fulfil their own potential.,

  • Manage a team of Social Workers working with People with a severe & enduring mental disorder to promote good mental health.
  • To support the team to undertake assessments under the Care Act & design and deliver services that will meet need and ensure these are reviewed on a regular basis.
  • To ensure the team undertake safeguarding and chair safeguarding meetings.
  • To support the team to develop their professionalism and their careers via supervision and appraisals., The successful applicant will be required to register to the DBS Update Service to enable the Council to undertake rechecks throughout your employment. The cost to register is £13 and can be claimed back upon commencement to the role but will not be refunded if you do not accept the offer of employment.

  • Experience in working in Mental Health as a Social Worker and an understanding of the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support senior officers, with confidence to challenge where appropriate based on evidence.
  • Excellent organisational skills will be needed to agree, develop and manage your service.
