Full Job Description

The talkSPORT.com team spans across several departments - including editorial, social, audience and tech - and we are looking to expand with an additional Social Media Assistant, helping with the scheduling and delivery of website articles across our social channels.

Your Role: We are seeking a bright, innovative and passionate Social Media Assistant who is keen to grow their career within the sports media industry.

Reporting into our Social Media Editor, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to manage our website's output across Facebook, Twitter/X, and YouTube. This will involve liaising with the editorial team on story selection and publishing, identifying hooks within content that appeals to our social audience, and analysing real-time data to inform what to post and when.

Day to day you will:

  • Posting and scheduling a variety of talkSPORT.com articles across multiple social platforms

  • Creating visually appealing imagery from templates that complement website stories

  • Working collaboratively and at speed to post breaking news and jump on trending topics

  • Helping contribute to daily article ideation based on what's trending across social media

  • Communicating with our video team on scheduling times to ensure there are no clashes

  • Monitoring traffic trends in real-time and feeding back any key insight or learnings

    A knowledge of and passion for a wide range of sports and social media platforms

  • Able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment

  • Comfortable communicating into our London Bridge offices at least twice a week

  • Strong communication skills and a real team player with good work ethic

  • Flexibility to work across evenings and weekends on a five-of-seven days rota


  • Experience overseeing social media accounts, preferably within the sports media industry

  • Experience using social media management tools and/or data analytics platforms

  • An understanding of how to optimise posts for different social media platforms

  • An ability to pick out bits of information within articles that appeal to social audiences

  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or graphic design skills
