Full Job Description
Location: Canada - This is a hybrid virtual working position in the Greater Toronto Area, and the incumbent will be required to be in the Toronto office for staff meetings at least twice a year. They may also be required to attend in-person events in Toronto as needed. Some international travel may also be required., As our Social Media Coordinator, you will report to the Communications Manager, assisting in executing the organization's digital marketing and communications plans for World Animal Protection in Canada. Your role will focus on creating on-brand, inspiring social media content for various platforms, building and maintaining engaged and enthusiastic online communities, and supporting strategies for increased conversions on social media advocacy and fundraising campaigns., ? Support and help execute World Animal Protection Canada's social media and digital strategies ? Develop fresh, trending, educational and on-brand content for our social media channels (including but not limited to graphics, videos and compelling copy) in collaboration with the Communications Manager and subject matter experts ? Maintain an organized shared content library in coordination with the Communications Manager ? Leveraging past data and emerging content/platform trends, consistently develop and execute reiterative content testing plans and regularly share results with the wider team ? Proactively recommend improvements to social media management processes, including content planning, content creation, content testing and community management processes ? Actively participate in advocacy and fundraising campaign activities by developing creative content, interacting with audiences and supporting strategies to engage users to take meaningful actions and change their behaviours for animals ? Help maintain the paid social media ad program, assisting the Communications Manager as required ? Monitor, analyze and provide reports on the performance of World Animal Protection Canada's social media assets, including for Canadian board reporting, in collaboration with the Communications Manager ? On occasion, gather photo and video content from in-person events and campaign mobilization actions that can be used to promote campaign efforts on social media channels COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT ? Maintain and grow engaged, passionate social media communities by supporting and executing social media community management strategies, including a proactive approach, to help build a community base that is ready to take action for animals ? Ensure community management activities are consistent with brand guidelines and maintain and enhance the reputation and positioning of World Animal Protection in Canada ? Interact with external stakeholders including brand ambassadors, influencer partners, government representatives, companies, journalists and media professionals to build and maintain strong professional relationships ? Support the Communications Manager in maintaining a current FAQ library of key messages and position statements with other departments to support community management and brand reputation COLLABORATION AND GROWTH ? Work cooperatively with external organizations, teams within World Animal Protection Canada and in the wider animal welfare movement to pursue campaign objectives and wider organizational goals, including those relating to brand, communications, fundraising and resource management ? Actively participate in building our brand and maintain the integrity of our brand to support our profile, lead generation, income and engagement ? Help secure resources (income) and reach (people and partnerships) by actively contributing to our supporter relationships, fundraising, communications, and donor reporting ? Actively participate and support the organization to ensure that we manage our resources (financial, staff and IT) efficiently and effectively by improvement of systems, reporting and compliance ? Contribute to a learning culture and create a positive working environment for staff ? Value diverse backgrounds, cultures and identities to help create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered ? The role holder will from time to time be required to undertake any other duties that are within the scope of this role ? - Experience in developing branded digital and social media content for platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads and TikTok
- Demonstrated ability to create compelling social media content, including excellent copy, that converts users on objectives related to campaign and organisational growth actions like petitions and acquisition of email leads
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain engaged social media audiences
- Knowledge and experience with social media strategy, digital content creation and community management
- Experience with content creation applications including Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
- Experience reading and analyzing social media reports
- An understanding of the digital marketing funnel, and the role of social media within larger digital marketing strategies and for achieving business objectives
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong copywriting skills with excellent attention to detail
- Organized and able to produce accurate monitoring and reporting
