(Access to Norfolk and Cambridgeshire for team meet ups. 1-2 per month min and additional content capture days as required, with typically 5-6 national events annually. e.g. our Winter Festival, Remembrance in London, Scotty's Ball etc)., Are you a creative individual passionate about making a difference? In this role, you will be responsible for engaging our supporters on social media, sharing our journey, and encouraging positive action to support bereaved military children and young people.   • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned to the goals of the charity.

  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video, written) across various social media platforms.

  • Organise opportunities for content creation including meeting other team members for filming/photo capture.

  • Lead social media campaigns from planning to execution and analysis.

  • Engage with followers, respond to comments, and manage online community interactions.

  • Analyse social media metrics to measure the success of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.

  • Provide insights and reports to the team on social media performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency and effective campaigns.

    Typically has 2-3 years of experience in social media management or a related role.

  • Has a strong understanding of social media platforms, metrics, and best practices.

  • Is proficient in social media tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social).

  • Is proficient in/has good working knowledge of Canva and/or Adobe.

  • Demonstrates creativity and the ability to develop engaging content.

  • Capable of strategic thinking and planning for long-term social media goals.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage a team or lead projects.

  • Operates with a higher level of autonomy, making decisions on content strategy, campaign execution, and community management.

  • Responsible for developing and refining social media policies and procedures.

  • Expected to provide recommendations and insights based on data analysis.

  • Manages complex projects such as multi-platform campaigns, influencer partnerships, and crisis communication.

  • Analyses and interprets detailed social media analytics to guide strategy.

  • Develops comprehensive content plans and editorial calendars.

    Scotty's Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting military children and young people (0 to 25 years) who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.


  • Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott, following the death of her husband Corporal Lee Scott in Afghanistan in 2009, the charity, which was set up in 2010, provides support and guidance to hundreds of bereaved military children and young people throughout their childhood.

    So far this year, Scotty's has supported over 700 bereaved military children and young people and has a long-term goal to support over 1,000 children annually by 2030. Having established a key role within the Armed Forces charitable sector over the past decade, Scotty's is now embarking on a growth phase to build a charity capable of delivering its 2030 goals.

    I am here to bring the charity's supporters on our journey with us using social media and encouraging them to take positive action to help us achieve the mission.

    Conduct a thorough audit of existing social media channels to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

    Content Calendar and Strategy:

    Develop a streamlined content calendar focusing on quality over quantity.

    Content Optimisation:

    Optimise content based on insights gained from the audit and initial months of posting.

    Targeted Campaigns:

    Run targeted campaigns to engage specific audience segments.

    Efficiency Improvements:

    Implement tools and strategies to improve social media management efficiency.

    My 9-month goals are:

    Community Engagement:

    Foster stronger community engagement and interaction.

    Performance Tracking and Adjustment:

    Continuously monitor performance and make necessary adjustments.

    Sustainability and Handover Plan:

    Ensure sustainability of social media activities and prepare for a smooth handover.
