Full Job Description

Are you interested in developing your career in Adult Social Care? We've a great opportunity for a Social Work Assistant to join our Working Age Adults Team. We work with people under the age of 65 who have a learning and/or physical disability or a diagnosis of autism to help them take part in social activities whilst keeping them safe from harm. You will need to be a 'people person' who enjoys listening and talking to others to understand their needs and make sure they feel valued. You'll be joining a team and organisation who are proud of our commitment to colleague development, and of our effective partnership working with health colleagues. This means as well as being supported by other social work assistants and social workers to develop your skills, you'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively across health and social care teams, and to consider various apprenticeship programmes including a social work apprenticeship. Interviews for this role will be held on 16 or 17 December.Main Responsibility

  • Carrying out strength's based assessments as outlined under the Care Act 2014 for service users and their carers.
  • Supporting service users and carers where necessary in meeting agreed outcomes in the most resourceful way.
  • Demonstrating an ability to use the council's email, social care data base and electronic recording system and any other systems deemed essential to the role.
  • Being aware of quality standards and performance measures and ensure they are adhered to. Providing Practical Support where needed for individuals.

    Hold a Diploma 3 or above in Health and Social Care/Supporting People or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a social/health care setting.
  • Good communication skills with individuals and their diverse needs.
  • Can work as part of a team including working co-operatively with other professionals and agencies.
  • An awareness of adult abuse and Mental Capacity.
  • Able to work autonomously but recognise when support is needed. Good written and recording skills
  • For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle. Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle Insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.
  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).
