  • Undertake a range of assessments with children with disabilities, young people and their families/carers.
  • Empower children, young people and their families/carers by listening to their views.
  • Plan the services required to meet the needs of children, young people and their families/carers and ensure action is taken to implement plans.
  • Advocate for children with disabilities and obtain maximum benefits, services and support.
  • Make best use of available resources when responding to the needs of children, young people and their families/carers.
  • Provide written reports, in a variety of different formats as required.
  • Carry out tasks to fulfil the statutory legislative and other requirements for children, young people receiving services.
  • Promote children, young people and their families/carers' cultural needs and challenges discrimination and racism.
  • The candidate will work within Sandwell Children's Trust ethos and values, and promote our Equality, Diversity and Identity (EDI) strategy, to empower children and families.
  • It is your responsibility to carry out your duties in line with the Trust's policy on equality and be sensitive and caring to the needs of the disadvantaged, promoting a positive approach to a harmonious working environment. You should act as an exemplar on these issues and should identify and monitor training for yourself and any employees for whom you are responsible, in line with this policy and the Equalities Act 2010.
  • You will be allocated children from Short Breaks, to build positive relationships and provide an immediate response to information or situations concerning risk to vulnerable children.
  • Complete Direct Work ensuring the voice of the child is paramount and ensuring the usage of sensory direct tools are promoted and used with children.

    Social Work qualified and registered with SW England.
  • Have knowledge and experience of working with children with disabilities.
  • Experience of working within children and family services
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, guidance etc, within chosen service area.
  • Ability to prioritise, analyse information and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and balance conflicting demands.
  • Applicants must have completed their ASYE year.

  • Hybrid Working - full time 37 hours per week The successful candidate will be working with a team that covers all three localities within the Trust. The team complete Single Assessments for children who have profound disabilities, ensuring the right package of care and support are in place for the child/ren and their families. The team also ensure any children that require a statutory care plan is progressed, whereby a variety of plans are progressed within this team, such as children being subject to CIN/CP and CIC plans. In addition, the team also ensure children subject to 'Short Break' reviews are also progressed via the needs of the child, ensuring ongoing, or new support packages are progressed.,
