Full Job Description

The Disabled Children's Team is a dynamic and responsive team working with disabled children and their families. The service is responsible for all aspects of children's social work from assessment and analysis, through to long term planning. The team covers a wide range of children's social work including care proceedings, children who have involvement under the Mental Health Act, as well as child protection and children in care. The Disabled Children's Team is co-located at the Saltway Centre with multi-agency partners. This means that we are able to provide a holistic service to disabled children, young people and their families. We have created a service comprised of highly motivated and specialist social workers with experience in both safeguarding and disability in recognition of our most vulnerable children., We are dedicated to ensuring that you can progress your continued professional development and access training and learning opportunities linked to the BASW competencies for career progression.

  • A proven ability to work in partnership with children, young people, parents, carers and partners.
  • A strong strengths-based approach and child-centred value base that informs the work with children, young people and families.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and motivate children, young people and their families in a range of circumstances.
  • Effective assessment, analysis and planning skills and excellent direct work skill base and knowledge that can be shared with colleagues across the team.
