Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent Social Worker in the Strengthening Independence Service's Disabled Children's Team covering West Kent (West Kent 2 Team). We promote hybrid working but do encourage working in an office at least three times per week so the team can get together and share ideas and knowledge whilst supporting each other. The Team covers a wide geographical area and there is an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.
We are able to provide an extensive training and development programme and you will be provided with support and opportunities to further develop your own knowledge and skills with regular supervision.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will be working with disabled children and young people aged between 0 and 17 supporting them to progress towards independence. The role within our team will enable you to gain further experience in a wide range of work, including supporting Children in Need, Court applications, Children in Care and Child Protection.

You will be required to work alongside and in partnership with other professionals to develop plans to meet the care and support needs that have been identified.

You will be required to ensure that all record keeping is accurate and kept up to date using the appropriate IT systems.

We are looking for somebody who is highly motivated and can demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to disabled children and young people, their families and carers. The successful candidate would have a positive, forward-thinking attitude and be creative and imaginative and be able to work collaboratively as part of the team.

You will hold a degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have a variety of post-qualification experience of working with children and/or adults and their families.

Experience in Children's Services is essential for this post.
