Our Children in Care Team provides oversight for all the children in care in Northamptonshire. This includes children subject to legal proceedings as well as children with a plan to remain long term in our care. We focus on building meaningful relationships with young people, their families and their carers to ensure that we plan effectively for the future of every child. You'll be conducting clear, accurate assessments, coordinating multi-agency approaches, and building positive relationships.

What will you be doing?

You will need to demonstrate that you have experience of looked after children care. Your experience could have been gained whilst working in a LAC, court team, attending court whilst working in a safeguarding service or another area of children's services.

This is a very fast paced and busy role that strives to deliver positive outcomes for our children and families in collaboration with our colleagues in the Leaving Care Service and our external partners.

Duties:

  • Conduct Initial, Core, and specialized assessments within prescribed timescales to formulate and implement support plans or refer cases to appropriate services.

  • Manage complex cases, organize support packages, assess risks, and monitor service users' situations to adjust support as needed.

  • Provide direct advice and guidance to family members, empowering them to participate in service planning and promoting independence.

  • Liaise with appropriate staff and agencies, taking the lead in establishing resources like group work programs and specialized counseling.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to analyze service users' needs and plan care programs accordingly.

  • Record and update all relevant information and reports efficiently to ensure decisions are fully evidenced for audit, court, or other purposes.

  • Provide written/verbal evidence in court, carry out necessary planning and assessments related to proceedings, and implement court-agreed actions to safeguard children.

  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of self and others, complying with department policies, and carry out any other duties within the job's scope.
