Do you want to join an organisation where our workforce are 'positive about the support they receive from their managers. They are clear that the environment feels safe. Staff are positive about the changes in the culture of the service and their morale is high' (South Tyneside Ofsted Report August 2024)

We have a stable and supportive management team and are looking for dedicated social workers to join our Supporting and Strengthening Families social work teams.

In South Tyneside our children and families are at the forefront of everything we do. We want every child and family to feel supported in times of need and empowered to make the right decisions. We take pride in our social work teams, where staff are valued and supported and where we work together to drive this vision forward.

We are embedding relational and restorative practice principles in our work and you will be part of a team focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

We know this work is complex and can be challenging and we ensure staff are safe and supported. You will work in a small team where you will benefit from strong guidance and oversight, and access to a management team that is visible and approachable.

We have a good training offer and all practitioners have access to an on line research and resource offer. Our staff tell us they feel listened to, valued and supported, we regularly celebrate good practice and our aspiration is to ensure you will have a caseload of no more than 16 children maximum at any one time.

If you are not yet a progressed social worker you will be supported through our career progression framework, and when ready, complete a progression portfolio, as well as access to post qualifying training, including practice education.

Supporting and Strengthening Families (SSF) - We have 6 small teams who have a manager and a senior practitioner to provide oversight and support. In the SSF teams you will work alongside families and other professionals to identify and build upon strengths, to support families to ensure the care arrangements of their children are safe.
