Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and exam board specifications, fostering students' understanding of sociological concepts, theories, and research methods.
  • Creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and thoughtful discussion of social issues.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including case studies, documentaries, and current affairs, to enhance students' understanding of sociological perspectives and their application to the real world.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Humanities department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education.

    A forward-thinking secondary school in the vibrant borough of Sutton is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Sociology Teacher to join their successful Humanities department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025., A degree in Sociology or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS4 and KS5 Sociology curriculum.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for sociology.
