- undertakes research to determine market trends, production requirements, availability of resources and formulates design concepts;
- prepares sketches, designs, patterns and designs.
- submits design to management, sales department or client for approval, communicates design rationale and makes any necessary alterations;
- specifies materials, production method and finish for aesthetic or functional effect

These skills are different depends on the type of work they need to do, overall, they need to have,
- completed a foundation course or other related knowledge is preferable
- experience of being a product, clothing.
- Deep knowledge of fabrics to a highest standard.
- Ability to do modify and incorporate required changes in existing design
