Full Job Description

This is an exciting time to join the South Tees team as we develop a subregional soft tissue knee service across the Tees and North Yorkshire Group Structure with closer working relationships between North and South Tees trusts. We are fortunate in having two acute sites across the structure with the James Cook site being one of the two Major Trauma units in the ICS. In addition, the group has two standalone Elective Surgical Hubs including a new build Friarage Surgical Centre on the Northallerton site consisting of 8 new theatres in a purpose built theatre suite opening April 2025. The Arthroscopic surgery will be housed in a dedicated day case theatre with a fully integrated Smart Suite., The team host sub-regional MDT for complex soft tissue and young adult and adolescent pathology. The role will include a weekly specialised Acute Knee injury clinic. The successful candidate should have at least 12 months fellowship training in soft tissue knee reconstruction and sufficient trauma experience to join the on-call rota for Major Trauma. There will be an opportunity to develop a specialised interest within knee surgery to treat patients with tertiary referrals from across the North East and North Yorkshire Orthopaedic Network. The Trust provides emergency and elective Orthopaedic services as a tertiary referral centre and Major Trauma Centre in the North East of England.

The department of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery has an international reputation for its leadership in clinical research.
