Full Job Description

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with strong Java skills to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to help drive the future of genomic healthcare. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of developing essential applications that enable us to deliver large-scale genomic healthcare services.   • Write efficient and scalable Java code following best practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end microservices using Java technologies.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of new features.
  • Create and maintain test automation frameworks to ensure the reliability and high performance of our applications.
  • Support testing efforts and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and integrate new technologies into our projects.
  • Work closely with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of systems.

  • Proficiency in Java programming, with a focus on clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Strong understanding of scalable Java architecture and microservices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in test automation, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and a commitment to test-driven development (TDD).
  • Adept at using collaborative development tools and version control systems., A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

    Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics. We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments - with patients and participants at the heart of it all.
