Full Job Description

Software Engineer (Frontend) - Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities:

  • Develop frontend web features and applications to deliver outstanding user experiences.
  • Build user interfaces that provide a best-in-class experience for customers.
  • Monitor and enhance the sites' Core Web Vitals for optimal performance.
  • Integrate third-party software into the platform, including tag management using Google Tag Manager (GTM) when needed.
  • Improve and maintain platform observability tools and systems.
  • Manage and enhance automated CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable deployments.
  • Ensure sites are accessible to all users, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards as a minimum.
  • Writing test cases and ensuring sufficient coverage.
  • Behavioural Responsibilities:
  • Actively contribute to an Agile team, providing constructive feedback to peers informally and through code reviews. Collaborate on tasks where appropriate, e.g., through pair programming.
  • Manage your workload effectively, meeting deadlines and clearly communicating risks to delivery timelines.
  • Break down requirements into actionable tickets with well-defined scopes and estimates, while identifying risks and dependencies.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including UX designers, product managers, and other development teams, to achieve shared goals.
  • Showcase new features to business stakeholders, tailoring your communication to suit the audience.
  • Identify blockers and proactively work towards resolution, making technical decisions where necessary.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate complex features, systems, and code details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Handle urgent issues ("firefighting") with a calm and composed approach.

    Core Java Proficiency: knowledge of Java SE, OOP principles, and standard libraries.
  • Java Frameworks: Experience with popular frameworks and tools like Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Hibernate for building scalable, maintainable back-end services.
  • API Development: Ability to design, build, and consume RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services, with a strong focus on security, performance, and best practices.
  • Microservices & Distributed Systems: Understanding of microservices architectures, service orchestration, and inter-service communication patterns.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Proficiency in automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito), integration testing, and continuous testing methodologies.
  • Performance & Security: Ability to implement caching strategies, profiling, and security practices (e.g., OAuth, JWT) to ensure reliable and secure service performance.
  • Front-End Basics (Full Stack): Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue) to integrate back-end services into a seamless user experience.
  • Version Control & Collaboration: Expertise with Git, code review practices, and Agile methodologies for efficient team collaboration and iterative development.
