Full Job Description
Reporting to the Software Development Manager you will be working in a small, agile development team working on integrating and enhancing the processes between the software development and IT teams. This involves developing both software and hardware infrastructure to streamline software production across various platforms and utilising a range of software tools. You will support the success of a variety of teams developing software for visualisation, immersive technology as well as the core 3D CAD. The teams utilise a variety of technologies and work closely with other teams across Siemens.
As someone who's opted for a placement within their degree course, you will be looking to start your career as a Software Engineer supporting the development process. Your degree must contain a high level of technical content preferably within engineering or computer science. This role is paid and available as a one-year fixed term contract from summer 2025 to summer 2026. It offers a fantastic opportunity to work on world-class, complex software projects in an exciting and varied enterprise environment for industry leading customers., It is expected that the candidate will acquire a broad understanding of our products, their domains, and their application; have the confidence to express ideas as part of a creative software team; have a genuine interest in technological trends; have the ability to meet deadlines; to think creatively about solutions to complex technical problems; and be constantly striving to enhance the team's results and the quality of the software. What you'll bring
- Experience of Python or similar scripting languages
- An inquisitive and methodical approach with good attention to detail
- Strong analysis, design and problem-solving ability

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of software engineering principles
- A passion for creating high-quality software
- An ability to understand and communicate complex technical problems A knowledge of any of the following would be desirable:
- Software development processes and compilers
- Linux and MacOS
- Software test systems
- Software build systems
- An interest and understanding of Windows-based hardware systems.
